Grujic excited by future after joining LiverpoolSerbia U21 midfielder agrees transfer to Liverpool before loan back to Red Star Belgrade

Marko Grujic signs his contract at Liverpool

Marko Grujic is excited at the prospect of playing at "one of the biggest clubs in Europe" after completing a permanent transfer to Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade.

The 19-year-old will loaned back to Red Star for the remainder of the 2015/16 season before linking up again with the Liverpool first team in pre-season ahead of the 2016/17 campaign. Grujic, who can play in a defensive, central and attacking midfield role, said a call from Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, was an important factor in his move to Anfield.

"Klopp said I must be relaxed and I am coming to a big club, one of the biggest in Europe," Grujic told liverpoolfc.com. "And when I start pre-season in preparation for next season, I need to concentrate on my job on the pitch and that's it.

"I was thinking about my progress in my next period and decided it was good for me to come here and try to be the best I can."

Grujic, who is the fourth player to be signed by a Barclays Premier League club in this January transfer window, represents Serbia Under-21s and also helped his country win the Under-20 FIFA World Cup in 2015.
